Why Spectro Cloud for government
Mission-grade infrastructure management for defense, intelligence, and federal agencies.

Full-stack lifecycle management, from bare metal to mission app
Kubernetes is only 20% of a functioning cluster. The other 80% — OS, networking, storage, security tooling, AI frameworks, and application services — is where complexity lives and operations break down. Spectro Cloud manages the entire stack declaratively through Cluster Profiles: version-controlled blueprints that capture every layer, from the operating system through Kubernetes and into the workloads running on top.
This means your platform teams can define a validated, policy-compliant stack once and deploy it repeatably across any environment. When updates are needed, a new profile version rolls out consistently across every cluster in the fleet. Hourly reconciliation loops detect and correct configuration drift automatically, eliminating the “snowflake cluster” problem that plagues hand-built environments.

Purpose-built for air-gapped, classified, and DDIL environments
Many platforms treat disconnected operation as an afterthought. Spectro Cloud designed for it from the start. Palette VerteX deploys fully self-hosted and air-gapped, with mature support for classified networks, government cloud regions (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government including Secret and Top Secret), and environments where connectivity is denied, intermittent, or limited.
Edge clusters enforce their desired state locally and continue operating autonomously when cut off from the management plane. When connectivity returns, they resync seamlessly. Content can be uploaded locally for environments with bandwidth constraints. This makes Palette VerteX a natural fit for DDIL operations — whether the infrastructure is aboard a ship, inside a SCIF, or deployed forward with a tactical formation.
Decentralized architecture for mission resilience at scale
Palette’s architecture is fundamentally different from centralized management platforms. Each managed cluster holds a local copy of its desired state and runs its own agent. Policy enforcement, self-healing, and lifecycle operations happen at the cluster level, so there is no single point of failure and no dependency on a constantly available control plane.
This architecture has been validated at scales exceeding 10,000 clusters. It means agencies operating large, distributed fleets — across bases, ships, vehicles, or coalition sites — can manage them from a single platform without the bottlenecks and fragility that come with centralized designs. Competing platforms built on centralized architectures struggle to match this scale and resilience. If your management server goes down, your operations don’t.

AI-ready infrastructure from the data center to the tactical edge
AI models are only as reliable as the infrastructure beneath them. Spectro Cloud provides two complementary platforms for government AI workloads. Palette VerteX manages the Kubernetes infrastructure underpinning AI environments — bare metal provisioning, GPU operator integration, networking, and storage. PaletteAI VerteX adds full-stack AI factory lifecycle management on top, covering NVIDIA HGX systems, Spectrum-X networking, Run:AI, and the broader NVIDIA AI Enterprise software suite.
Together, these platforms enabled a federal technology provider to take a classified AI factory from loading dock to live in 30 days — after the previous approach with another vendor had stalled for ten months.
Spectro Cloud is included in the NVIDIA AI Factory for Government reference design, and the SAINA (Secure AI-Native Architecture) extends zero-trust security to every layer of the AI stack, from BlueField DPUs to inference endpoints. At the tactical edge, Palette VerteX manages AI software stacks on devices as small as NVIDIA Jetson modules, with the ability to distribute inference workloads across pooled edge resources for faster threat response.
A single platform for containers and VMs — modernize without disruption
Government agencies carry large estates of legacy VM workloads that cannot be containerized overnight. Palette’s Virtual Machine Orchestrator (VMO) runs virtual machines as first-class citizens alongside containers on bare-metal Kubernetes, using open CNCF projects including KubeVirt. This gives agencies a migration path from traditional hypervisors without forcing immediate refactoring of mission-critical applications.
At the tactical edge, VMO enables legacy applications that depend on a VM runtime to operate on the same infrastructure as cloud-native workloads — reducing hardware footprint in space- and power-constrained environments. There is no separate hypervisor to license, patch, or manage. One platform, one operational model, one set of security controls.

Open architecture with no vendor lock-in
Spectro Cloud is CNCF-conformant, community-driven, and deliberately non-opinionated. You choose the OS, the Kubernetes distribution, the networking, the storage, and the application services that fit your mission. We support more than 50 commercial and open-source integrations out of the box, and you can bring your own. Palette can also import and manage existing clusters built on other distributions — including Rancher RKE2 and Red Hat OpenShift — so adoption is non-disruptive for organizations with existing investments.
We sponsor the CNCF Sandbox Kairos project for immutable edge images, contribute to the Cluster API project for declarative Kubernetes management, and are active members of the CNCF, LF Edge, OpenSSF, AAIF, and the CNCF Public Sector User Group. This is not a proprietary platform dressed up in open-source branding. The architecture is open by design, and your data and configurations stay portable.

A government team that understands the mission
Spectro Cloud’s Government team includes veterans and active-duty personnel from multiple branches of the US armed forces — people who have operated the infrastructure they now help build and manage.
We offer premium support for government customers, delivered 24×7×365 by US citizens based in the continental United States, covering the full Palette VerteX platform and first-line support for every approved technology integration in your stack, including open-source projects.
We understand the constraints of working in secure environments where vendors cannot follow. That is why Palette VerteX is designed so your teams can promote artifacts and replicate builds across classification levels independently, without requiring Spectro Cloud engineers on site. When a federal technology provider needed to move our platform into a classified high-side environment, their own team handled it using the same declarative blueprints they had validated on the low side.
A defense ecosystem built for interoperability and supply chain trust
Spectro Cloud partners with the organizations that matter in government and defense infrastructure. NVIDIA named us a Preferred Partner and includes Palette VerteX and PaletteAI VerteX in the AI Factory for Government reference design. We partner with SNUC for TAA-compliant rugged edge hardware, and with system integrators including CDW-G, WWT, Flywheel Data, GovSmart, Norseman Defense Technologies, and Rise8.
On software supply chain security, Spectro Cloud is at the table. At KubeCon North America, our team joined Lockheed Martin, Applied Research Associates, and Defense Unicorns on stage with the CNCF Public Sector User Group to release a white paper on securing the public sector software supply chain — a practical reference architecture aligned with NIST and CISA guidance. We don’t just consume supply chain frameworks; we help write them.

Transparent pricing and dramatically faster time to value
Palette VerteX uses a simple, predictable pricing model. Edge devices carry a flat annual fee per managed host. Data center and cloud environments are billed on CPU core usage within Kubernetes worker nodes, with annual contracts and a “true forward” model that means no retroactive charges if usage exceeds predictions. Volume discounts and multi-year agreements are available.
Government customers consistently report time-to-deployment improvements exceeding 70%. When the alternative is months of hand-configuration and ongoing vendor dependency — with the fragility and risk that entails — the return on a platform investment becomes clear fast.
Put us to the test
We’ve made our claims on this page. We’re ready to back every one of them — in your environment, with your teams, against your requirements.
Whether you are modernizing infrastructure across classification levels, deploying AI at the tactical edge, consolidating VM and container workloads, or standing up a new program under deadline pressure, we welcome the chance to demonstrate what Palette VerteX and PaletteAI VerteX can do for your mission.
